Um..so..I live in the New Orleans area. Not IN New Orleans but a community 15 minutes from downtown N.O. Anyway, apparently Steven Segall (yes, THAT Steven Segal) is a legally deputized sheriff and he works for my Parish and New Orleans. (Parish = County)

A&E tv, filmed him on duty and it’s airing on tv. Part of me wants to get into a traffic accident, just in the off chance Segall pulls up to help me.

I grew up in the 80’s. I saw a lot of his movies. I’m not an uber fan or anything but he’s actually got a good sense of humor about his past stardom. I can respect the ability to make fun of yourself.

You might be thinking to yourself, “Self, Isn’t Segall too fat to be on the police force?”

Well, let me put you at ease. We have a lot of FAT officers. The capitalization of the word fat was used to emphasize the enormity of some (not all—ok..majority) of Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish officers. So Stevie should fit in just fine.

Shit I hope no one on the force comes across this. They’d hunt me down. Seriously. Remind me to tell you about the two different occasions a cop threaten my life because they couldn’t get in to see a free movie.

I wonder how many nut jobs asked Segall for an autograph while he handcuffed them?

Seriously folks…a restaurant based on the RMS Titanic..yes, THAT Titanic. The one that sank. The one that had around 1500 die on board. They also made that crappy movie..but I digress.

Anyway, I couldn’t believe they actually made a dinner theater out of the whole thing! Geesh.

Would you go? Not only does it seem creepy to me (you can eat in steerage or First Class! WTF?) But they “hit an iceberg” after dinner and then the “Carpathia” (the actually name of the ship that picked up the survivors) “sails” in and the party hits the dance floor!

I’m not even fucking kidding.

I might have a stick up my butt about this but I don’t think I could in all good conscience eat at this place.

To each his own.

*Finish making Xmas presents for Nessa, Wendy & Carisa. Pick up a few to supplemental gifts for family.

*Decorate office.

*Mail those presents by 12/14.

*Contemplate my navel

*Check ebay for hubby’s present.

*Get Title from dealership. Tags, taxes done before Xmas!

*Strangle hubby for singing “12 Days of Christmas” every damn day

*Look into extended warranty before 12/31.

*Use Voodoo doll on Wal-Mart cashier who checks me out too slowly

*Clean up bedroom! Make room for small table. Move in new bed.

*Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!

*Try not to lose my mind.

*Gather stuff up for charity shop

*Set trap for Santa on roof. Hijack sleigh.

*Go to Office Max for calendars

*Figure out Xmas dinner menu

At Theaters

Hello folks—so this will only apply to the US because I have no idea what movies open in what countries and when.

Hubby and I have a Thanksgiving tradition. We eat around lunch time and then go to the movies. It started when we had to have Thanksgiving with family members in different locations. We’d cut it short by saying we had plans and then take off for the movies.

We never see any Academy Acclaimed dramas or Oscar Worthy actors—we go for the cheese.

Yep, we find the movie that will probably be so bad, it’s good.

This year we chose, Ninja Assassin!

Ninja Assasin - Rain

You may have heard of it. You certainly must have seen the trailer on TV in the weeks leading up to its release. They played the hell out of it!

Hubby and I have a fondness for martial art movies. We grew up watching the old movies from the 70’s on Saturday afternoons on Channel 20. I knew who the Shaw Brothers were before I aware who the President of the US was. Sad I know but fun none-the-less.

We chose Ninja Assassin for the utter and complete load of cheese it was going to be. Sometimes that means you get a movie with so many plot holes you can’t ignore. Remind me to tell you about “Street Fighter”—both films. Geesh.

Lo and Behold..Ninja Assassin was actually a fun movie. It was worth the $20 for tickets. It was the kind of movie that knew what it was. It wasn’t trying to be anything other than over-the-top and cheesetastic. That is why it swims in win!

Sho Kosugi

Rain starred as the Ninja Assassin. The good guy actually. Sho Kosugi was his master! If you ever watched the old Ninja movies from Japan then you know who he is! The guy has got to be old but he looks great and moved like he was in his 20’s!

Rain’s English wasn’t laughable either! Not that he had a ton of dialogue. He looked super hot too. If he did half of his stunts then I am impressed! The training scene displayed some of the skills he learned for this movie, plus how much upper body strength he gained. Check out the bed of nails lift in the video.

The movie is certainly bloody and if you are twisted you’ll laugh at the outrageousness of the fight scenes. Especially the opening scene!

If you can’t stand blood…CG or otherwise..then avoid this film at all costs. If you can’t stand tasteless films, then this movie isn’t for you. If you abhor martial arts, wire work and the whole ninja movie genre, then run screaming the other way.

But if you love all of that and more, then go pay the money to see this now!

You will enjoy yourself and spend a few hours after the movie talking to your friends about it.

Plus Rain is good eye candy. ^_^

Regular Programming

I’m thinking of going back to my roots. My blog roots. Meaning, I use to like to write about books, tv, movies, and things that catch my interest. Of course Arashi has always been a part of all that but I figure it’s redundant to post any Arashi news.

I like to share what interests me in the hopes of finding other’s who appreciate the same things, and who would like to share with me things they think I’d be interested in.

Having said all that let me share what’s been keeping me engrossed lately.

My Korean Experiences:

I don’t think you can like Japanese TV and movies without finding yourself drifting to the Korean genre at some point. If your first experience with Kdrama’s started because you loved Hana Yori Dango and was curious about Boys Over Flowers then maybe you’d like to find some more kdrama’s to watch.

City Hall:

Cityhall

This 2009 comedy/drama stars Kim Sun Ah as Shin Mi Rae. KSA is famous for the 2005 drama, “My Lovely Sam Soon”; which I highly recommend as well. City Hall takes place in a small town where politics and romance meet. I’ve never had a thing for politics and watching this drama made me hate it. The leads are great. The romance is more real than anything I’ve seen recently. It’s laugh out loud funny through most of the show but near the ending episodes you might find a few tears flowing. Usually 20 episode drama’s turn me off because there are so many stale moments but this one actually had me watching each episode all the way through without skipping parts out of sheer boredom. The side stories with the rest of the cast are very well done too. Dramafever.com can hook you up.

Thirst: This vampire movie is unlike anything I’ve seen in the vampire genre and yet still completely familiar. It’s directed and written by Park chan-wook (Old Boy, Sympathy for Lady Vengence) A priest is turned into a vampire. I don’t really understand how it happens but when it does, he fights his unnatural thirst for blood. He doesn’t want to kill to satisfy his craving. However he can’t fight the sexual thirst he covets for a friend’s wife. The female lead is played by Kim-Ok Bin. I sympathized with her character at first. Then I just thought she was bat shit crazy and went along with the ride. This movie made me laugh and cringe several times. It’s so well done but hey, it’s Park chan-wook. He never fails to make me love his movies---or to make me cringe and laugh at the same time. The only thing I didn’t care for was a sex scene that seemed to go on WAY too long. It was overboard but I understand how it was needed for the story. I watched it on Xbox Live but you can get it on DVD in the US now. I think it’s probably floating around on the ‘net too.

Totally off the Korean topic but I’ve been eager to see “Drop.” A Japanese movie staring Hiro Mizushima and Hiroki Narimiya. Anyone come across it with English subs, please let me know. Hell, even if it doesn’t have subs, please let me know.

Made it back from Tokyo yesterday. I'm exhausted. I've slept for hours on end but i'm still dizzy from lack of sleep. Luckily my flight wasn'tcanceled because of the typhoon! Unlike poor Carisa and Nessa.

I'll post pics, short vids and a write up of the whole thing plus concert later. I'm just still too tired.

I just have to say that it was absolutely fantastic. It poured rain the whole time but it was great. Arashi was great. They are even better than I could have possibly imagined!

The best time of my life for sure!

I finally got my passport. So that drama is over. Now it's all about packing for next week.

Ya'll are the coolest for passing along your positive vibes and well wishes. I wish I could pack ya'll in my carry on and take you with me. Now that would be the most fun ever! Gaijin Arashi fan girls invading Kokuritsu!

I plan to keep a journal of my visit and posting up here eventually.

Passport on it's way!

I had to call my local congressman to get it processed. Can you imagine that? It just sat on someone's desk until I called and made a fuss.

Seriously, if anyone wants to move to Louisiana, I tell you now and in no uncertain terms: DON'T DO IT!

This place is crap.

So now I just have a million and one things to do before next Wednesday.

Oh and I'm reading on LJ that JE has gotten stricter and all that jazz. Seriously, every year Arashi becomes more popular, every year JE comes up with new rules (supposedly) and not once have I heard of anyone getting kicked out of an Arashi concert.

I don't doubt they are concerned about tickets for sale on auction sites but I don't think they'll be pulling people out of Kokuritsu.

LOL..watch..I'll be the first person ever kicked out of an Arashi concert! Maybe I shouldn't joke about that.

Passport Problems

It doesn't look good.

I haven't received my passport yet and called the number the website provides. It says, If you are traveling within 2 weeks and have not received your passport, please call.

So I did call this morning.

A very nice lady informed me that it was received in the New Orleans Passport Agency on July 28th. It was being processed.

My heart sank. NEW ORLEANS?! I thought for some naive reason it was being sent to Washington DC. At least there I could expect government workers who do their jobs quickly and efficiently. Believe me when I tell you New Orleans government workers..scratch that..MOST PEOPLE IN NEW ORLEANS PERIOD..don't do anything quickly or efficiently or AT ALL, if they can help it. They will spend 3 days to figure out how to get out of 1 hour of work.

New Orleans in general has two speeds, Slow and Dead Stop. So I can pretty much guarantee that my passport application is sitting on someones desk under their cup of coffee and beiget.

I can make an appointment with them and go down to the main office. But my brain says, "And do what?" I've dealt with the New Orleans government before. They either have no idea what they are doing or they just don't give a shit about you and your problem.

I Hate the South.
